Pam Conrad Project Strategist/Project Manager. Pam has 18 years experience managing client accounts and projects. Her focus: Making sure project deliverables meet, if not exceed, client objectives. As a principal of Mile7, Pam leverages her background with all forms of marketing communications — web development, Internet marketing, UI design, print collateral, video and corporate presentations — to help clients determine the best strategy for a project. Before starting Mile7, Pam worked at Waggener Edstrom where she helped establish and manage their marketing/creative services group, Zebra Design. Pam has a BA from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Ted Olson Creative Director/Designer. Ted has a unique blend of experience: More than 20 years spent in web and software design, technical communications, marketing communications, and direct marketing. Ted brings each of these disciplines to every project – translating client input into effective solutions. At Mile7, Ted directs the creative side, crafting solutions with equal emphasis on usability, marketing, and graphic design. Before starting Mile7, Ted held the position of Creative Director of a direct marketing agency as well as Marketing Communications Manager of a high tech company. Ted holds an MFA in Visual Communications from the University of Kansas with emphasis on information design, UI design and Human Factors.
Jayne Schurick Usability Engineer. Jayne's expertise includes task and user needs analysis, competitive analysis, experimental design and statistics, and usability testing. She has direct experience working with R&D, Quality, Marketing, and Engineering groups on a variety of products, including personal computers, workstations, medical ultrasound equipment, keyboards and other computer input devices, documentation, and software user interfaces. Jayne received her Master's degree in Psychology/Human Factors in 1982 from California State University, Northridge and has done additional graduate work in Industrial Engineering/Human Factors at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
Sue Protz Project Manager. Since 1982, Sue has worked in the graphics industry producing a wide range of projects, including multi-media presentations, print collateral and package design. Throughout her career she's been hired to manage art departments and start up small graphic-based businesses. Currently, Sue is the Principal of the design firm, Resolutions. Sue's uniqueness to the Mile7 team is her ability to coordinate large sections of web sites. She's great at complicated, detail-oriented tasks, in addition to her design knowledge and creativity. Sue graduated with a BFA from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Bill Cameron Screen Designer/Illustrator. With 19 years experience in digital graphic design, Bill has worked in areas as diverse as logotype design and typography, retail packaging design, corporate identity, entertainment marketing, and web development. During eight years a senior designer at Anton Kimball Design, he worked on projects for such high tech clients as Sierra, Microsoft, and Nintendo. He has a B.Ph. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Miami University.
Jody Pfohl Icon Designer. Jody brings a singular focus to the team: enhancing each product's user interface with thoughtfully crafted icons. Jody has refined this skill over the past 10 years, developing simple, consistent, and distinct icons that enhance user recognition and overall product usability. Since graduating in 1993 from Sheridan College of Applied Arts in Toronto, Jody has created icons for an ever increasing number of clients in the U.S.A., U.K., Canada, Australia, South Africa, Denmark, Germany, and Norway, including some of the most well-respected software development companies.
Scott Benish Screen Designer/Problem Solver. Scott has been designing interfaces and multimedia elements for the past nine years. An interdisciplinary background and thorough knowledge of current technologies helps him design compelling media for a wide range of projects and clients. His work has included web site design, multi-media presentations, software interface design and video production. Among his various clients are Nike, Nintendo, Intel and Bonfire Snowboarding (a winner in the 2002 Communication Arts Interactive Annual). In addition, Scott has been invited to contribute to a number of well-respected interactive design sites such as designinteract.com, undesign.org, digital-web.com and bornmagazine.org. He leads the creative team behind rangermag.com, a bronze award winner in the I.D. Magazine 2001 Interactive Media Review. Scott received his BA in Visual Media from Oregon State University.
Steve Axthelm Technical Lead/Presentation Layer Developer. Steve Axthelm has been specializing in standards-compliant, accessible front-end web development for the last six years and was recently accepted as a member of the W3’s HTML5 working group. In addition to his mastery of HTML and CSS, Steve’s areas of proficiency include DOM scripting, SEO, web analytics, and cross platform/browser compatibility. A generalist by nature, he has extensive experience occupying the middle-ground between the technical and creative members of the team. Steve is an expert in graphics optimization, and has a knack for workflow design and automation. Steve’s first introduction to computers was sharing time on a PDP-11 at California Polytechnic University in Pomona. Even after many years of working with computers, a practical, yet elegant, solution still makes him smile.
